Overview
This course will introduce the student to SIP, what it is and why it is used. It will look at and explain the server functions together with the protocols required to provide these functions and investigate how security is deployed.
Audience
Technical planners, developers, network managers and anybody involved in IP
Multimedia, VoIP and Convergence from Service Providers, Enterprise networks
and Telco's. Pre and post sales and support engineers in vendor organizations
should also attend as should engineers and technical professionals from carriers,
ISPs, system vendors and integrators or end-users developing or deploying realtime
services over IP networks.
Pre-requisites
Delegates must have a broad understanding of TCP/IP, for example as provided
by our Internetworking with TCP/IP course (GEN5018).
Objectives
Students will understand the architecture, components and functions of the SIP
suite. They will Appreciate SIP's strengths, reliability, performance, separation,
extensibility, modularity and simplicity. Delegates will also understand the role
SIP plays within the wider context of signalling, content and communications
protocols.
